Jerez De La Frontera: Jerez, horses, flamenco, tapas â € | and many shops of shoes!
Jerez de la Frontera is located in the heart of Andalusia, about an hour and a half of the magnificent monuments of Seville and half an hour from the shores of the Atlantic-shot of the Costa de la Luz. Itâ € ™ s an ideal place to a weekend of Spanish culture, just two hours on average in the UK.
Jerez is well known worldwide as the focus of producing sherry triangle Andalusia. If youâ € ™ ve ever wondered whether youâ € ™ re Christmas drink € ™ s Harvey's Bristol Cream comes, I know.
Jerez is home to dozens of wineries, including the famous Gonzalez Byass, known by its brand Tio Pepe. I visited Bodegas Tío Pepe and was very impressed the tour, which included, inter alia, an interesting film, and one round the vineyards and gardens. Another popular Bodega Williams and Humbert, whose path includes a horse show. Some wineries, including this one, requires advance booking, so check before you go.
Other highlights Jerez include ³ n Foundation Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art (The Royal Andalusian School of Art Equestiran â € " www.realescuela.org ), Known worldwide for itâ € ™ s show "How the Andalusian Horses Dance", a unique exhibition of horsemanship. The show takes place every Tuesday and Thursday, and Friday only in August, at 12pm.
One of my favorite places was the Alcazar, a 12th century Islamic fortress. I spent a lovely afternoon in the glorious surroundings of sunny gardens, marked with cooling water features and filled with the scent of spring flowers the summer in a cascading kaleidoscope of flowering color. Dimming the sun for a little relief shadow was simple: the Arab Baths, the Mosque and the mill oil to cool â € "and very interesting.
Any visit to the Alcázar should â € "without fail – take the camera obscura, a innovative feature that really worth the few Euros it costs more. You are taken to the top of the Palacio de Villavicencio, a more prominent all Alcà czar. Here, he was made into a private room with about 10 or 12 people, and surrounded what looks like a white dish. He was standing on Holy Thursday night, but we got the elbows and literally Salmon rubbed with Spanish, joining them for dishes of duck plum sauce, smoked and cream cheese terrine, octopus in paprikeredâ € â € ~ ™ potatoes and something to participate in puff pastry tuna and â € "we didnâ € ™ t take the name â €" but it certainly tasted good washed down with a cold beer.
Of course, this is just a small sample of Jerez, and the words, however brief, should also be made to the City Flamenco € ™ s heritage. El Centro Flamenco, with its studios and a museum, must be in the path of someone who has a passion for this art.
A final thing to mention â € "â € shoe" and many of them. Every few buildings, there was no other. There were so many, that were separated dedicated to certain types of shoes â € "even had one that just sold pink shoes!
