Great Gardens to Visit in Spain With Your Gardening Group
Here are some of the fabulous gardens in Spain. Each of these gardens is well known and some are considered historic national treasures. Each garden has its own style, usually being a mix of Roman and Moorish architecture.
As you travel with your group, you will find dozens of gardens unlike any you may have previously seen. Allow for plenty of time during your travels in order to see gardens you may come across. If possible, you should visit during early summer to see the full effect of the gardens.
Try to have a cheat sheet or personal translator on hand if you travel across country.
Mies van der Rohe Pavilion – This garden and surrounding building was designed during the Barcelona International Exposition of 1929. After the Exposition was finished, the pavilion was dismantled. Generalife Garden – Patio de la Acequia, or The Court of the Long Pond, has been photographed more than any other garden in Europe. With Roman architecture and a calm, timeless appeal, this garden is also known as the “garden of the architect”.

Real Jardin Botanico – Created by King Fernando VI, this garden originally started out as a royal hobby. This is a beautiful garden created to suit the personal tastes of the king. Jardines de las Reales Alcazares – After Seville was conquered by the Christians, this garden was one of the things they took as spoils of war. The courtyards themselves glitter like crystals with pools and fountains.

Museo de Sorolla, Madrid – This small studio garden was created by the post-impressionist Joaquin Sorolla Bastida (1863-1923). He hand painted much of what can be found here and considered it his sanctuary. A terrific spot for a group looking to relax and admire nature. Bastida himself used to enjoy sitting here and allowing himself to become inspired to paint.
