Asturias – Peaks and Parks

Asturias is one of the seventeen autonomous communities of Spain, and can be found in the far north. Many of the Spain's autonomous communities are sub-divided into provinces and Asturias is no exception but there is only one province in this region, which is also called Asturias.
The autonomous region is bounded as follows:

· On the east by Cantabria
• In the south by Castile and León
• In the west Galicia
• In the north by the Cantabrian Sea

The provincial capital, Oviedo, with the seaport and industrial city Gijón Aviles is the most important cities of the region with other major cities, as Mieres, Siero, Cangas de Onis, Cangas del Narcea, Grado, Lena, Laviana, Delivering, Villaviciosa and Llanes.

The mountainous areas of Asturias, as was predictable, hard, cold winter, while in contrast, the coast has mild summers and winters with average annual temperatures of 13 º C. Oviedo Snowfalls are common in Somiedo and Picos the regions between November and January.

Food & Drink

Asturias is known as much for its seafood and its regional dish Fabada Asturiana which is a rich stew, delicious prepared with large white beans, ham, black sausage, chorizo and saffron. The traditional alcoholic drink of the region is a cider natural made with apples harvested from the many apple trees here and is usually served, "Cup-bearer." The bottle, when using this method, must be held above the head, allowing the cider has a long vertical pour, and since it is bottled gas, the cell becomes cider, and splashing in the crystal leaves a pleasant and refreshing taste. It is customary to spend the same glass everywhere and for everyone to drink from it. After each person takes his drink, a small amount of cider has splashed to the ground in a glass cleaning symbolic gesture before passing it to the next person.

Asturias is also affectionately known as "the land of cheeses. This is mainly due to the variety and quality of the product known regions (especially the Cabrales).

El Camino de Santiago (and all its monuments en route) and the Ruta de la Plata (the "silver route"), both transverse and Asturias are some of the preferred regions attractions.

Music

Regional Anthem – The regional anthem of Asturias, "Asturias, patria querdia ' (Asturias, dear homeland) is a song that, as popular myth suggests, is sung by intoxicated persons in the whole of Spain, while in reality this is not really true. Franco side 'first mentioned this idea during the Spanish Civil War in an effort to damage the reputation of Asturias.

Main Attractions

Oviedo, capital of the region, compromising a different architecture, is a clean and cosmopolitan. Some of the highlights located to the north are Santa Maria del Naranco and San Miguel de Lillo, a pre-Roman church and pre-Roman Castillo, respectively, which were built by the first Asturian kings.

The Picos de Europa National Park: The Picu Urriellu is probably the most famous of the mountains in this range and is a molar-shaped peak that has a glow orange in the evening sun which gives it its nickname "El Naranjo de Bulnes.

The shrine of the Virgin Mary of Covadonga and the mountain lakes, near Cangas de Onis: The Virgin Mary is said, according to legend, gave a timely signal Asturian soldiers to attack the Moorish conquerors, in so doing completely offenders by surprise. The result is that the Reconquista and the unification of Spain, it is believed, began here in Asturias.

The Asturian coast: the beaches and coves around Llanes center are worthy of special mention, as is the Playa del Silencio near the fishing village of Cudillero.

Other sites of interest

· CECED people: Announcement of traditional granary grain silos, which are built on stilts to keep field mice to reach the point.
• The River Dobra: colors and extraordinary natural beauty that the river worth visiting if you are in the area.
• The Coast 'path' (coastal road) between Pendueles and Llanes: some of the most impressive coastal scenery can be seen while walking along this route nature. Among the many shows are buffoons (jets natural water created by erosion from the sea) and the Playa de Ballota.
• A strange rock formation on the beach in the town of Buelna is best seen at low tide.

The mountains and nature reserves of Asturias offer a timeless way of life, which is steeped in culture and is enchantingly different from the busy Southern Costas. At least once in the life of a person from a visit to Asturais must be in the adgenda.
