Salamanca, Spain â € "modern city with Small Town Values
The Spanish town of Salamanca in Castilla Province and Leon. In the Midwest of the country, and only an hour's drive from the border with Portugal, is a city with 165,000 inhabitants with a climate varies from cold and susceptible to rain showers in the winter months which is a drier and more comfortable (in terms of temperature) for the remainder of the year.
The city is famous throughout Spain as the most popular university towns where more than 40,000 students each year migrate to study. It is said that the Spanish spoken in Salamanca is the purest form of language in the whole of Spain, making the city a popular destination for students of foreign languages.
The fact that Salamanca is a university town means there is no shortage of a place to go out at night. Students meet to chat, drink or eat tapas in the many squares © café or bar and relaxed atmosphere during the day in the city at night is still where it combines with the music that emanates from the bars.
The Board Castilla y Leon region of Spain is known for its agriculture and quality of locally grown products. Many different types of sausages and ham variety Spanish, â € ~ € ™ Serranoâ Ham are some of the most favored regions of delights. Other products include cheeses from the region and â € ~ ™ € specialitiesâ Pool as beans and almonds grown in the vicinity of Alba de Tormes.
Due mainly to the variation climate, the food served in Salamanca depend largely on the seasons. The winter months see the fulfillment of a stew made with chicken, pork and meatballs, or other filling dishes like steak œMoruchaâ € €. Warmer temperatures in summer make the dishes lighter tapas style more popular, especially sausage or ham varieties.
A typical meal of Salamanca is the â € ~ € ™ Hornazoâ. This is a salty paste made with ham, bacon, sausage and egg or you could try € ™ â € ~ Chanfainaâ, rice is mixed with sausage.
